Week 6 pt. 4

After my opening scene where Annique is already crazy I'm living my best life with Cristina, going out on dates and hanging out together. We run into Annique on one of our dates, which is where Annique puts 2 + 2 and realizes I left her for Cristina, the girl she saw on my phone when we were friends. At first Annique had a shrine about me and was crazy but it could've been worse, once she runs into us at a shopping center. She snaps to the point of obsession of her plotting how to kill Cristina and she hasn't decided whether she wants to kill me or "get back" with me. She ends up seeing my car and follows me back home and stalks me and Cristina. She decides its now or never to make a move on Cristina and I and tries to break into my house. The moment we realize she's watching us from outside the window. The short film ends I wanted to end it on a cliffhanger to add suspense for it, since its a short film.

Week 6 pt. 3

My short film opening begins with me and Annique (the crazy ex) before she goes crazy. We were dating for over a year and she was looking through my phones camera roll looking and all the fun dates we've gone on the past. While reminiscing of the good times, she keeps scrolling and see a picture of me and another girl (Cristina). She insistently gets triggered and throws a tantrum, yelling and throwing things around. From there it fast forwards a few months ahead to where Annique and I are broken up and took different approaches on how we handled the breakup. I start dating Cristina and are happily where as Annique slowly starts becoming crazy. I took some of the inspiration from the Tyler Perry movie that I've mentioned in the past on my blogs. Annique over time gets crazier and crazier over time. This is how I wanted to  going straight into the action and trying to cover the main plot.

Week 6 pt. 2

This weekend we were able to accomplish I'd say around 80% of the short film. We don't have school on Tuesday (!!!!!) so hopefully, if schedules don't conflict we can finish it then. If schedules do conflict the last scenes will be filmed final on Wednesday. Once that I can start editing and hopefully finish before the weekend and only have to do my reflection on the weekend, where I have a lot of free time. I don't think I'll have a problem with editing since I've been editing all my group project all year round and got pretty good at it. I did a little bit of editing but not that much since most of the of the film took place this weekend. I have about two more scenes to take and I'll be done with my short film. I edited the scenes I had when I filmed in Pei Wei, since I had so much free time but couldn't do much because of weather or conflicting schedules.

Week 6 pt. 1

My crew and I had different things going on at different times since it was spring break however, we were able to accomplish buying some of the clothes that we felt were necessary for the shots. I bought some clothes from PacSun since it's a "trendy" type of the store and I want my character to give off that vibe. Girlfriend #1 got some clothes from forever 21 and girlfriend #2 got some clothes from Nike and other workout stores. My reason behind them wearing different clothes is because I want everything to be complete opposites of each other. For example one of the girls is more of a sandals type of girl while the other one prefers sneakers.  I planned on shooting this weekend and if I didn't finish then I would meet one more time during the week to finish up. The biggest challenge I've had was scheduling, since all of us either work or play sports, as well as it raining to the point where we would have to cancel for the day.

Week 5 pt. 4

Blog

Week 5 pt. 3

This weekend I wasn’t able to get any shooting done since one of my actresses (girlfriend #1) went out of town for spring break. There was some miscommunication where I thought she would be leaving next week instead of this week. So initially I planned on using the weekend to film since thats when our schedules work the bedt. So I have to hold onto shooting my scenes until she comes back early next week. My goal is to finish filming early this week, so I can have the rest of the week to edit. Which leaves me with a week to finish the reflection which I think is more than enough time for me to do it. That should be the last thing I need for this project (I dont think I’m forgetting anything).

Week 5 pt. 2

On Thursday, we had a class discussion on everyones projects and ideas. I heard some potential ideas and saw what other classmates progress. An idea that I loved was one of my classmates suggesting since my film is going to have a flashback scene, I should incorporate a voice over. The scene is of the first girlfriend looking through the boyfriends phone and reminiscing of a few of the dates they've been on. So the idea was to have the voiceover talking about how she was feeling that day, or what haplened before or after the picture. The feedback on my storyboard was very limited since the school internet didn’t want to load my pictures. So I had to try my best to explain to my group on what the idea and plot of my story was going to be. Overall I got good feedback, which at least lets me know that, it will be well recieved.

Week 5 pt. 1

Last week, I blogged about how I have an issue with hearing the audio. I tried playing around with the cameras audio settings but i couldn’t get anything to work. However after talking with Mrs. Marchetti, earlier this week, she advised me that the best approach would be that I mute the video and do a voice over. Although it requires the most work since I have to deal with timing of the shot and the audio. It seems like that's the only option without having to re film the scenes. So that seems like this is goibg to be the aproach im going to be taking. Especially since the scenes that need to be re done only one person is in the shot while the conversation is happening so luckly, i just have to get the timing right with one person as far as being in the frame goes.

Week 4 pt. 4

I started brainstorming the locations I want the rest of my movie to take place, I'm looking for places that would allow me to film and have the right environment I'd want to capture in that scene. So far I haven't had any issues with getting permission to film, Mrs. Marchetti told me it'd be best that I have the permission in writing and signed. So I have to make sure I keep a few forms on me, just in case anything happens. I'm also planning the camera shots I'd be using. I'm trying to think everything out before I actually shoot the scenes in order to try to make the filming as quickly as possible. Along with thinking everything through, in order to get opinions and feedback before I film, which would save time, effort and storage on the camera. Since there a lot of things going into this project, time management is very important in my opinion. If I can get done with it as soon as possible, I will so I can move on and finish other parts of this project.

Week 4 pt. 3

After reviewing last nights scenes from Pei Wei, I ran into a problem, most of the audio I capture with the camera has an echo. This was something I had a small concern about before filming but I didn't think it would be as bad as it was. It's at the point where you can barely hear what we're actually saying. So now I have to figure out how I'm going to handle this problem, I'm not sure if it'd be better to either refilm the scenes you can't hear, mute the scenes and do a voiceover or just reshoot in a different, more closed location. I'm going to try to get some other opinions for my classmates and Mrs. Marchetti to see what would be the best approach for the audio situation. Other than that, overall the quality and the shots were exactly what I wanted them to be, at least I have options on what I can do in order to fix the audio situation. I'm trying to solve this problem asap, hopefully before the week ends.

Week 4 pt. 2

Last night, I was out late as I began filming a few of my scenes, the ones that needed to be shot at night. We went to Pei Wei, where the manager was more than kind enough to let me film and move tables around if I needed too. So I was able to get a good 30 seconds of actual film. So I would consider last night to be a productive day. However, I was trying all day to get my afternoon shots too, however, it kept raining so I have to see whenever my actors and I are free and can meet up to get those scenes done. I think if weather permits and everything goes to plan, I'd only need maybe one or two days of filming. I 'll be editing my scenes as I film, in order to help save time so I don't spend one whole night editing and forget certain things. The scenes I filmed are more of the middle of the plot, that is one issue I have to deal with. I have to jump around with my scenes in filming since they'll be filmed during certain times of the day and some are inside and outside. Hopefully, I get lucky next weekend in order for me to hopefully finish filming or at least get a majority of it. Sidenote: I'm working with a new camera which I haven't learned how to properly do everything yet or have the proper equipment, one of the things I don't have yet is the tool I need to upload my film to my desktop. So once I get it, I'll add one of the scenes I filmed in Pei Wei here.

Week 4 pt. 1

Last class, I spent the whole class planning out my storyboard and figuring out my psychological thriller storyline. I'm planning on starting out the opener with the girlfriend having a flashback compilation of a happy couple, for example, the couple is at the beach, park, walking the city. She comes back to reality and realizes their relationship isn't what it used to be. The girlfriend later learns there a mistress that the boyfriend chose over her. Ultimately leading to her becoming crazy and plotting to kill the new couple. That's a quick rundown of my story without going into too much detail and ultimately running the surprise.  For my storyboard, I'm guessing that the story is done. And I'd just have to figure out the placement of all the scenes and potentially add one or two scenes if I have to, but as of right now I don't have any plans of doing so.

Week 3 pt. 4

I began looking into how to make fake blood, along with where I can find the bags that pop once they're touched (something kind of like a water balloon that they use in movies) and thinking about what I want my costumes to be. Since there will be someone getting killed, I think the way the blood is portrayed will be a big factor in this film. Also, I got to think about whether what age group I want the characters to be, being either high schoolers or not. More than likely I would choose high schoolers. Since my school has around 5,000 students, I think finding somebody who would fit what I want my character to be, wouldn't be hard. Someone who can pull off a crazy type of look.

Week 3 pt. 3

After taking the rest of the week to think about my storyline, I've thinking I'm going the route of having a heartbroken ex become crazy. I'm thinking of a spin-off of "Acrimony" where once the ex sees the other doing better, it drives her to insanity to the point she becomes the killer. And tries to kill off the new girlfriend, as a form of jealousy and thinks it's the only way to get back with the man she's in love with. I'm thinking this is the way to go, but I'm going to sleep on the idea and ask my classmates, in order to fix out any kinks or get more ideas to go along with the plot.

Week 3 pt. 1

Today in class, we all got split up and formed groups with students from other groups and gave any feedback and ideas. I got some peer ideas towards the production of my film opening more focused on how to portray the villain. Along with some ideas towards the storyline of the whole thing, although that is still a work in progress. After getting put in a group of 5, they all analyzed my blog and it was unanimous that it was time to personalize my blog to make it fit me. They considered it too bland and boring, so sometime this week I'll be sure to fix any problems I have on it and give it a makeover. Back to the ideas for my opening, some ideas for the plot were: have a couple get chased out of town or have a stalker like an ex who becomes crazy, or go the basic route of just having a crazy killer. I think it'd be the most fun filming either of the firs two but I'm not sure yet. I'll have to think about it and figure it out the next time we have a class discussion.

Week 3 pt. 2

Last class, I got shown how to make my blog look more presentable. After taking the tips I got from my classmates into consideration, I played around with the settings and revamped everything, along with fixing any other errors on my blog. For example, my text box glitching out of my screen, which would cut off half of my posts, I messed around with the background theme until I found something I liked, which ended up being a change from a blue striped background to now an orange with a cool design. I ended up changing the overall format of my page and made each week more accessible and more appealing. Overall I gave my blog a much-needed makeover and personalized it to fit more of my style.
